There have been many changes in Dominican foreign mission appointees in January 2020. Listín Diario reports that the Medina Administration has applied a kind of sweep of the foreign service with the enactment of several official decrees that had not yet been disclosed to the public. The changes affect at least 139 officials under the Ministry of Foreign Relations. Listín Diario says that the vast majority of those who have been removed were appointed during the eight years of government of former President Leonel Fernández, between 2004 and 2012.
Listín Diario reports that during January 2020, 75 decrees were issued, of which 55, or 73%, have to do with cancelations or appointments of individuals assigned to the foreign service.
