The Modern Revolutionary Party (PRM) asked for the Attorney General Office of the Republic to suspend the naming of new prosecutors. Speaking for the PRM, Sigmund Freud Mena, director of the legal office of the PRM, recalls the irregularities of the 2018 sweep of the prosecutor departments with the naming of new people. At the time, journalist Edith Febles revealed beforehand the beneficiaries of the “competition.” This cost Febles and two other journalists their job on CDN TV station.
In a press conference called at the PRM headquarters, Sigmundo Freud Mena said that two of the positions that will be named are that of the Prosecutor in charge of persecuting corruption in government and the high-tech crimes prosecutor.
“The PRM is convinced that these appointments are part of a plan to guarantee impunity for current officials. Fourteen of the 17 positions resigned spontaneously even though they were eligible for the positions after evaluation,” he said at the press conference.
