Three Romanians that were under observation at the isolation wards set up at the Ramón de Lara Hospital at the San Isidro Air Base tested negative for coronavirus, the Ministry of Public Works reported on Friday, 28 February 2020.
The Ministry said that of the group, only a 50-year old man had symptoms of covid-19 and was tested. The other two Romanians tested positive for influenza. The three Romanians, aged 29, 35 and 50 had arrived from Germany after a five-hour stopover in Spain.
Initially, the men were taken to the Moscoso Puello hospital in Santo Domingo by a Dominican, who was the fourth person under observation for having been at the side of the foreigners, with whom he has ties of friendship. The Dominican was also in the hospital, complying with the protocol followed in these cases and did not show symptoms.
So far, the Ministry of Public Health has had 60 people under surveillance, mostly travelers. The Ministry indicated 30 people were being monitored for the disease over the weekend.
