
The trial of the state versus San Cristóbal Senator Tommy Galán, accused of accepting bribes to expedite Odebrecht contracting in the DR,has been set to restart on 16 April 2020 at 9 am. The hearing will be at the Second Chamber of the Supreme Court of Justice, under presiding judge Francisco Jerez Mena.
Tommy Galán (PLD-San Cristóbal) is running for re-election in the 17 May 2020 presidential and congressional election.
Meanwhile, Judge Esmirna Gisselle Méndez, president of the First Collegiate Court of the National District, set for 20 April at 9 am the beginning of the trial against the defendants Angel Rondón, Conrado Pittaluga, Víctor José Díaz Rúa, Roberto Rodríguez and Andrés Bautista, also are accused in the US$92 million Odebrecht bribes scandal.
