President of Asonahores says not to panic

The president of the National Association of Hotels and Tourism (Asonahores), Paola Rainieri, said that there is no reason to panic about the coronavirus. She recommends that the population follow the guidelines of the health authorities and, above all, maintain the necessary preventive hygiene measures. She said the disease is nothing more than a virus, and one with a very low mortality rate. She said that even many people who could eventually be infected would not die or even know they had it.

She says that Asonahores agrees with the ministries of Tourism and Public Health on the need to reinforce measures to prevent the spread of the disease.

Rainieri said for the peace of mind of the sector and Dominican society it is good to know that the country’s first person who tested positive for the virus was soon isolated. “Appropriate health measures have been taken. The virus is not within the community,” said Rainieri.

The president of Asonahores reported that after the meeting with health and tourism authorities, other measures were agreed in line with the new guidelines from the World Health Organization.
