This week, TIME Magazine has chosen a photo taken by Diario Libre photographer Ricardo Hernandez (AFP-Getty) in 2008 to be their cover for the edition that features “The 100 Women of the Year.” The memorable picture of the three Mirabal sisters, Patria, Minerva and Maria Teresa, graces the cover of TIME on the occasion of Sunday, 8 March 2020, celebrating International Women’s Day. This is the first time a photograph by a Dominican photographer makes the cover of one of the most prestigious news magazines in the world.
The 1960 Time Magazine cover is part of the 100 Women of the Year in history selection in which a Time magazine recognizes these outstanding women.
