Prevention is the key to preventing coronavirus from spreading amid the Dominican community. The United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has published a list of disinfectants that can be used to prevent contamination. According to the EPA, “the correct use of disinfectants is an important part in preventing and reducing the propagation of diseases, together with crucial elements such as frequent washing of the hands.”
Several household brand names are being recommended, including Clorox, Lysol and Oxivir.
But in the Dominican Republic, Public Health Minister Rafael Sánchez Cárdenas recommends using a simple bar of “cuaba” soap and thoroughly washing hands several times a day.
