Heavy rains are forecast for northcentral area of the country as of Sunday, 8 March 2020. The weather office (Onamet) predicts cloudiness and increasing humidity as a frontal system moves towards the east/southeast from Sunday to Tuesday, 10 March 2020. Moderate to heavy rains, with possible thunderstorms and wind gusts, are forecast for most of the country.
Onamet says that by Monday morning, the frontal system will be moving onwards towards Puerto Rico, but will leave behind extensive instability. Therefore, it expects downpours to continue mainly over the northwest, north, northeast, southeast provinces and the Central Mountain Range, including Greater Santo Domingo on Monday and Tuesday.
