Businessman Juan José Bellapart died on Tuesday, 11 March 2020. He is best known for being the representative of the Honda vehicle brand in the Dominican Republic, sold at the Agencia Bella. Bellapart migrated to the Dominican Republic when he was 16 years old from Barcelona, Spain.
In 1999, his love for the arts lead him to dedicate the fifth floor of the Agencia Bella to what would become one of the most extensive arts collection in the country. This would later evolve into an entire Museum, the Museo Bellapart located on Av. John F. Kennedy in Santo Domingo.
Culture Minister Eduardo Selman highlighted how Bellapart’s backing was key to the careers of many Dominican artists.
