Students ordered to self-quarantine when returning from abroad

Dominicans of all ages that have recently traveled abroad or are returning from their studies abroad are being asked to remain in self-quarantine, says Minister of the Presidency Gustavo Montalvo. Montalvo said that as part of measures to reduce the spread of the Covid-19, the students are asked to undergo isolation for 14 days. He called for the Ministry of Education, Science & Technology to ensure the measures are complied with in the cases of students on scholarship programs. He said that all Dominican students who were out of the country and returned to Dominican territory because of the coronavirus pandemic should be subject to a fifteen-day isolation from their entry into the country.

The Ministry of the Presidency announced on Saturday that all flights from Europe are banned.

As of 15 March 2020, the Pan American Health Organizations reports there are 11 people that have tested positive for Covid-19 in the Dominican Republic. All, according to national authorities, contracted the disease abroad.
