
As reported, Major League Baseball has instructed Dominican teams to reduce the number of players at their academies, sending home the players that have a convenient and safe place to go during the shutdown, reads the instructions the Baseball Commissioner has sent to the local operators of the academies.
The Baseball Commissioner Office says it recognizes that not all baseball players will be able to return home, as many are players from the Venezuela. The explanation is that by shutting down for those who can go home, the teams will have more space at the academies to accommodate others that need lodging.
The announcement affects the Dominican Summer League, in which players from the MLB 30 academies get some of the best training they receive.
