The Ministry of Public Health says that an old wing of the Marcelino Velez Public Hospital is being habilitated for use as isolation ward for those recovering from Covid-19. The hospital is located in western Santo Domingo.
Serving eastern Santo Domingo, the Ramón de Lara Hospital at the San Isidro Air Base (Tel 809 688-3333) at present is the main center serving those with the virus.
The government says that new areas for treating ill coronavirus patients are being opened at the National Police Hospital on Av. Independencia in the Zona Universitaria (Tel 809 533-8568), and the Armed Forces Hospital on Calle Dr. Heriberto Pieter/ Av. Ortega Gasset (809 541-9339 in Santo Domingo. These will be used as needed.
