Dominican Medical Association calls for only allowing Dominicans to enter the country

Dr. Waldo Ariel Suero, known for his extreme positions, recommended that only Dominicans and legal residents in the country be allowed to enter the country. He said that all who come should keep a 14-day self-quarantine to prevent the spread of the Covid-19 virus. He said the ban should be on maritime, land or border crossings. The exception would be the ship crews.

The Dominican medical association said that the virus was already at community transmission because of the delays in taking restrictive measures.

He suggested using the newly renovated Luis Eduardo Aybar public hospital for patients with respiratory problems.

Dr. Suero does not think the Dominican medical system has the capacity to handle the demands if Covid-19 spreads. He urged the government decentralize testing for the disease.

Dr. Suero is campaigning for the government to declare the nation in national emergency.
