
Minister of Labor Winston Santos is recommending employers send their employees home with two weeks paid vacation. He recommends those that have not accrued vacation time should receive wage advances in order to go home to wait out the peak of the coronavirus spread.
He also encouraged employers to send home all their employees over 60 years old, or those with special health conditions while the present health crisis prevails.
Speaking on Z101 radio talk show, he also recommended employers enable the employees to work from home.
In the case of household staff, he advised that people who work in the home do not leave until the 15-day quarantine is passed. He said in the case of domestic help that works only during the daytime, they should be dispatched. He said the same applies to condominium workers. He said these measures are to avoid spreading of the disease due to the persons picking it up during their commute or when at home.
