Hacienda Minister Donald Guerrero says they will leave up to the next government the sale of the Punta Catalina power plant built by the Medina administration in Peravia province (Baní). The government announced a recent assessment that sets the worth of the power plant at US$2.44 billion.
“In the face of the situation of the markets and the uncertainty that exists in the international financial markets, despite the fact that there has been interest, in the end we will be leading the process (of sale) hoping that the result of the May elections will allow the next government to conclude it,” said the head of public finance.
Recently the government reached an agreement through arbitration for an additional payment of US$395.5 million dollars to the consortium Odebrecht-Tecnimont-Estrella.
