
The Medina administration announced the launching of a government webpage dedicated to the Covid-19 virus developments. The website will feature the announcements made by the local coronavirus high commission and updated statistics.
On Sunday, 23 March 2020, Health Minister Rafael Sánchez Cárdenas urged people to stay at home, saying that the country was about to enter a phase of community spread. On Sunday, Sánchez Cárdenas announced an increase in 90 cases in just 24 hours for a total of 202 cases in the Dominican Republic. He also announced that the first two cases of Covid-19 detected in the country have now tested negative.
On Sunday, 23 March 2020, the Covid-19 High Commission announced three categories for public sector work, with most bureaucrats ordered to stay home. The High Commission also ordered the shutdown of nonessential call centers.
