Mutiny at the Dajabón police jail

Reports are that at least 11 prisoners held at the police detachment in northwestern Dajabón were transferred to health centers after a mutiny in which fire was set to the premises. The prisoners were awaiting coercive measures. Courts have closed due to the Covid-19 virus, affecting the cases of these. El Caribe reports that around 30 prisoners that were at the detachment were taken to the Matías Ramón Mella Hospital in Dajabón on Monday, 23 March 2020.
As part of the protest by the prisoners, fire was set to mattresses, sheets and clothes to draw the attention of the authorities.
As of 23 March 2020, there were not yet cases of coronavirus in Dajabón.
