
The Rainieri family and the Puntacana Group announced a RD$100 million donation to support actions to contain the spread of the coronavirus in the country. The province of La Altagracia has 35 confirmed cases of the Covid-19 virus as of 1 April 2020 at 6pm.
“During these 50 years we have been in solidarity with our country, our province, our people and the communities around us,” said Puntacana Group President Frank Rainieri in a statement.
The Puntacana Group wants to tackle the pace of the spread and address the economic impact of the crisis on the population. The Puntacana Group was one of the first in the tourism industry to announce all its employees will receive their pay on time.
The group manages the Punta Cana International Airport, country’s leading airport, which at present is operating at a minimum with the shutdown of international flights. The airport serves the resorts in the Punta Cana area that have closed due to the spread of the virus.
