San José de Ocoa is one of three provinces where as of yet no case of the new coronavirus has been confirmed. Its authorities hope to keep it that way. The landlocked province can be accessed from five provinces. The authorities are fumigating and disinfecting all vehicles that are allowed to enter. They are questioning the reasons for entry of the vehicles, and say they have denied entry to all who do not have an essential reason to visit, including domestic travelers interested in mountain or river treks.
