Public Health Minister Sánchez Cárdenas announced in a press briefing on 6 April 2020 that all medics with permission to practice medicine in the Dominican Republic are now authorized to prescribe diagnostic tests for the Covid-19 virus. Previously, the lab test required that an epidemiologist, infectologist, internist or pneumologist write the prescription.
