Somos Pueblo reports that the mayor-elect of Bohechío in the province of San Juan de la Maguana, Luis Emilio De León (Nolio), has mild symptoms of the Covid-19 disease and has been seen wandering the streets of the municipality without using a facial mask, despite having tested positive. A video recently was shared on social media showing him in the Yenny Supermarket. De León ran for the ruling Dominican Liberation Party (PLD).
The online port reports that the photos show the mayor is acting in an irresponsible way. During a recent press conference, Public Health Minister Dr. Rafael Sánchez Cárdenas acknowledged the spread of the disease in Bohechío.
The online portal also reports on the case of the son of the president of the opposition party in Restauración, Dajabón province, Juan Carlos Fontanilla, violated the curfew. A video shows him threatening law enforcement agents.
