
According to Coronavirus Bulletin #31 of the Public Health Ministry’s Department of Epidemiology, the Dominican Republic has 4,680 confirmed cases, 345 new cases and 226 deaths. There are 862 patients hospitalized.
Bulletin #31 carries statistics up to 18 April 2020 at 6pm. Some 15,583 PCR diagnostic tests are included in the tally. The Ministry announced another 41,127 rapid response blood antibody tests have been carried out. The results from rapid response blood antibody tests are not included yet in the statistical report. The Dominican Republic has a population of more than 10 million people.
As of Saturday, 18 April, the most confirmed PCR cases are in the National District and Santo Domingo Province (Greater Santo Domingo), Santiago, Duarte (San Francisco de Macorís), La Vega, Puerto Plata, Espaillat (Moca) and Monseñor Nouel (Bonao).
The largest increase in cases were reported for the National District (91), Santo Domingo province (88), Santiago (41), Duarte (22), La Vega (22), Puerto Plata (15), Hermanas Mirabal / Salcedo (14), Monseñor Nouel (6), María Trinidad Sánchez (4), San Juan de la Maguana (3) and Sánchez Ramírez (3). In the other 21 provinces, 2 or less cases are reported.
According to Bulletin #31, the evolution of the health crisis nationwide is:
National District: 1,198 cases, 91 new cases, 30 deaths
Santo Domingo province: 627 cases, 6 new cases, 32 deaths, including 1 new death
Santiago: 594 cases, 41 new cases, 28 deaths, including 5 new deaths
Duarte (San Francisco de Macorís): 461 cases, 22 new cases, 68 deaths, including 2 new deaths
La Vega: 330 cases, 22 new cases, 7 deaths
Puerto Plata: 143 cases, 15 new cases, 9 deaths
Espaillat (Moca, Gaspar Hernández): 137 cases, 15 new cases, 4 deaths
Monseñor Nouel (Bonao): 133 cases, 6 new cases, 3 deaths
San Cristóbal: 114 cases, 6 new cases, 3 deaths
La Altagracia (Higuey, Veron, Punta Cana): 90 cases, 2 new cases, 1 death
Hermanas Mirabal / Salcedo: 84 cases, 1 new case, 9 deaths
La Romana: 89 cases, 2 new cases, 2 deaths
Sánchez Ramírez (Cotuí): 118 cases, 3 new cases, 5 deaths
María Trinidad Sánchez / Nagua: 64 cases, 4 new cases, 2 deaths
San Pedro de Macorís: 53 cases, 2 new cases, 7 deaths
Valverde: 28 cases, 1 death
Peravia: 34 cases, 2 new cases, 1 death
San Juan de la Maguana: 32 cases, 3 new cases, 3 deaths
Azua: 22 cases, 2 new cases, 1 death
Barahona: 25 cases, 4 new cases, 1 death
Samaná: 19 cases, 1 death
Montecristi: 15 cases, 1 new case
Santiago Rodríguez: 16 cases, 2 new cases
Hato Mayor: 9 cases, 1 new case, 1 death
Monte Plata: 11 cases, 3 new cases, 3 deaths
Pedernales: 3 cases
El Seibo: 4 cases
San José de Ocoa: 4 case, 1 new case, 2 deaths
Dajabón: 1 case
Independencia: 1 case
Baoruco: 4 cases
Elías Piña remains the only province with no reported cases of Covid-19 as of 18 April 2020 at 6pm, as reported in Bulletin #31.
Haiti reports 44 confirmed cases and 3 deaths as of 17 April 2020.
The Ministry of Public Health says that the management of severe cases of coronavirus has improved significantly. The Ministry reported on the evolution of intensive care unit patients has been: 13 April, 155 patients; 14 April, 143 patients; 15 April, 124 cases; 16 April, 121 cases; 17 April, 146 patients; 18 April, 114 patients.
