Pimentel is a small city in the province of Duarte. Duarte is the province where community spread of the coronavirus began in the Dominican Republic. Over the weekend, Dr. Luis Rosario Socías, who is the president of the Pimentel city hall, denounced a large number of pneumonia deaths in the middle of the coronavirus pandemic.
“In the municipality of Pimentel, through the Ministry of Public Health, only two deaths from Covid-19 have been registered, which are, it seems, the only patients who have been tested but, in the data that we have, with all the death certificates from 1 March to today (17 April) we have a total of 39 deaths,” said the also former mayor.
