Government’s response to widespread evidence of irregularities in emergency procurement

Minister of the Presidency Gustavo Montalvo responded to widespread evidence of corruption in medical supplies procurement during the state of emergency announcing the government was beginning the process to disallow eight companies from being suppliers to the state for failure to deliver the goods on time. The companies were not named.

The minister, who is also the coordinator of the High Commission for the Prevention of Coronavirus, announced that the Procurement Agency would be instating a minimum 48-hour window for presenting bids and awarding these.
