The Metro Office (OPRET) says three new cars are arriving to be incorporated into the Santo Domingo Metro service. The Metro service is suspended at the present time due to the coronavirus general shutdown.
The three subway cars are coming from Spain and are part of an 18 car purchase order made to expand the Metro’s capacity.
“With this second batch of trains, there are 12 new wagons that OPRET is adding to the existing fleet on the Santo Domingo Metro lines. The new units will be in use as soon as service is restored,” said the Opret in a press release. The additional six subway cars are expected to arrive in June to complete the purchase order of 18.
