It’s official: Curfew to continue through 17 May 2020

President Danilo Medina issued Decree 154-20 extending the National Emergency State and the 5pm to 6am curfew. The Medina administration has delegated to its High Commission for the Prevention and Control of the Coronavirus the establishment of measures to combat the epidemic.

The state of emergency enables the government to expedite procurement. It also enables the government to restrict people and goods transit legally. The decree calls for the population to continue adhering to social distancing rules to avoid the spread of the disease.

The National Congress approved the extension for another 17 days. The state of emergency was first called starting 20 March 2020.
