Good news: Rains forecast, could clear skies of Duquesa smoke

The national weather service (Onamet) forecasts moderate rainfall and thunderstorms. The rains are forecast to start in the northwest, southeast, border with Haiti area, and in the northern and central mountain ranges, including Los Haitises in the northeast as of this Monday, 4 May 2020. The forecast for Greater Santo Domingo is for rains in the afternoon.

On Tuesday, humidity will increase. Heavier rains are forecast the result of a weather system coming from the east and southeast. Local downpours are forecast with isolated thunderstorms and some gusts of wind, especially over the northeast, southeast, east, border with Haiti areas, central and northern mountain ranges.

The situation is forecast to continue on Wednesday until the evening. By then, the rains are forecast to have passed over the country and a high-pressure circulation will bring more stable weather conditions.

High temperatures are forecast due to the warm wind blowing in from the east and southeast.
