
The president of the Central Electoral Board (JCE) said there are two facts: The South Koreans carried out elections during the Covid-19 epidemic. The Medina administration ends on 16 August 2020. The JCE has rescheduled the presidential and congressional election for 5 July 2020.
He motivated the political parties during a meeting that the objective is that the election be successful and safe for the Dominican people. There were proposals for segregating the vote by sex to avoid crowding. He opposed segregating the vote by sex. Another proposal was to extend the voting hours from 6am to 6pm. Julio Cesar Castaños Guzmán said the judges would study all the proposals and would announce decisions in due course.
The plenary of the JCE presented an outline of the health protocol that is being shared with the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO).
Other topics on the agenda that were discussed with the political parties during the five-hour meeting were the situation of the vote of Dominicans abroad and the technology to be used in the elections.
