Dr. Rafael Sánchez Cárdenas announced a Covid-19 containment plan for Santo Domingo starting Wednesday, 6 May. The Public Health Minister did not give further details during the press briefing on Tuesday, 5 May. He said the effort was being coordinated with the city government of Santo Domingo under new Mayor Carolina Mejía.
During the 5 May press briefing, the minister called for neighborhood groups to collaborate, notifying and following up on suspected cases of Covid-19.
Meanwhile, news reports are that Greater Santo Domingo is gradually spontaneously recovering new normalcy as informal workers and small businesses find a way around the partial lockdown.
