Dominican singers have lent their voices to a new version of “Resistiré” the coronavirus war song, relaunched in Spain when that country was suffering the peak of the disease.
“Resistire” produced by Porfirio Piña, César Suárez Jr. and Alberto Zayas is a fund-raiser for thousands of Dominican artists that are now without work. YouTube royalties and direct donations are being channeled to the artists in the form of supermarket vouchers via @Jompeame. The effort has the backing of several large companies, such as Presidente beer, Grupo SID, CCN and Ron Brugal.
More versions are expected to follow.
The song was originally launched in the voice of Toño Rosario. The lyrics are by Carlos Toro, a Spanish sportswriter who was battling cancer.
