CEI-RD, JAD and Adoexpo look into new export opportunities

The Center for Exports and Investment (CEI-RD), Dominican Association of Exporters (Adoexpo) and the Dominican Agribusiness Council (JAD) are coordinating actions to identify opportunities for local exporters. The new normal has disrupted trade, yet the organizations are optimistic it has created new opportunities that can be pursued by local industries and business. The effort seeks to mitigate the challenges brought by Covid-19 pandemic. Adoexpo and the JAD sit on the CEI-RD board of directors.

The entities say they are prioritizing actions that can back micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) that have export potential.

This work plan highlights the efforts from the CEI-RD trade Intelligence studies through analysis of business opportunities in current markets and potential markets with focused actions to know who buys what and where; the analyses to promote reconversion of the industry and respond to the demands of the new reality imposed on markets by Covid-19.

Marius de León, executive director of CEI-RD, said the representatives of the Adoexpo, JAD and the CEI-RD have been meeting online. “The work plan identifies the support needed by MSMEs and large entrepreneurs to stabilize the country’s productive structure by identifying opportunities to export during the current pandemic; to promote the conversion of the industry to new products and new markets and to respond to the new reality posed by Covid-19; and thirdly, to accompany MSMEs in the necessary acceleration to overcome the effects of the pandemic in a prudent time,” said De León.
