Bulletin #55 carries statistics as of Tuesday, 12 May 2020 at 6pm. The tally includes the results from 47,117 PCR diagnostic tests. This is an additional 1,792 for the day, up from 1,038 on the previous day. The statistical report does not include results from rapid response blood antibody tests or patients diagnosed with tomography or other means. The Dominican Republic has a population of more than 10 million people.

As of Tuesday, 12 May 2020 at 6pm, the most confirmed cases continue to be reported in the National District and Santo Domingo Province (Greater Santo Domingo), Santiago, Duarte (San Francisco de Macorís), La Vega, Duarte, San Cristóbal, Espaillat (Moca), Puerto Plata, Monseñor Nouel (Bonao) and La Romana, Hermanas Mirabal and Sánchez Ramírez (Cotuí), all with 200 or more cases.

The largest increases in confirmed cases were reported for Santo Domingo province (109), the National District (112), San Cristóbal (28), Santiago (12), La Romana (7), Monseñor Nouel / Bonao (5), Sánchez Ramírez / Cotuí (4), La Altagracia (3), Peravia (3), Puerto Plata (2), Azua (2) and Duarte (2). There was only 1 or no confirmed cases in the remaining 20 provinces.

According to Bulletin #55, the evolution of the health crisis nationwide is:

National District: 2,853 cases, 112 new cases, 56 deaths

Santo Domingo province: 2,412 cases, 109 new cases, 64 deaths, including 1 new death

Santiago: 1,184 cases, 12 new cases, 64 deaths

La Vega: 751 cases, 1 new case, 22 deaths

Duarte (San Francisco de Macorís): 739 cases, 2 cases, 79 deaths

San Cristóbal: 521 cases, 28 new cases, 17 deaths

Espaillat (Moca, Gaspar Hernández): 431 cases, 1 new case, 8 deaths

Puerto Plata: 297 cases, 2 new cases, 18 deaths

Monseñor Nouel (Bonao): 275 cases, 5 new cases, 4 deaths

La Romana: 271 cases, 7 new cases, 7 deaths

Hermanas Mirabal / Salcedo: 228 cases, 1 new case, 15 deaths, 1 new death

Sánchez Ramírez (Cotuí): 224 cases, 4 new cases, 6 deaths

La Altagracia (Higuey, Verón, Punta Cana): 173 cases, 3 new case, 2 deaths

Azua: 121 cases, 2 new cases, 2 deaths

María Trinidad Sánchez / Nagua: 113 cases, 4 deaths

San Pedro de Macorís: 96 cases, 1 new case, 12 deaths

San Juan de la Maguana: 89 cases, 1 new case, 4 deaths, including 1 new death

Peravia: 84 cases, 3 new cases, 3 deaths, 1 new death

Barahona: 70 cases, 1 new case, 1 death

Valverde: 66 cases, 4 deaths

Santiago Rodríguez: 42 cases, 1 death

Monte Plata: 28 cases, 6 deaths

Samaná: 28 cases, 1 death

Montecristi: 28 cases, 1 new case

San José de Ocoa: 17 cases, 2 deaths

El Seibo: 14 cases

Hato Mayor: 13 cases, 2 deaths

Elías Piña: 7 cases

Baoruco: 6 cases, 1 new death

Dajabón: 6 cases

Pedernales: 5 cases

Independencia: 3 cases, 1 death

Haiti reports 219 confirmed cases and 18 deaths as of 10 May 2020.

In the Americas, the Dominican Republic is ranked 9th in confirmed cases after the United States, Brazil, Canada, Peru, Ecuador, Mexico, Chile and Colombia. In the Caribbean and Central America, the Dominican Republic has the most confirmed cases.
