Consumer credit plummets in DR

New data from the Central Bank reveals that consumer borrowing began to decline sharply since March 2020. The Central Bank reports that credit card use has seen a record decline. This is despite the stimulus cash payments citizens have received in April and May. In February 2020, before the announcement of the virus, credit and debit card transactions were RD$14.93 billion. Two months later, in April, these had declined to RD$5.94 billion, or a 60% drop.
