Brugal extends baby care leave and includes both mothers and fathers

Casa Brugal, the leading rum distillery, announced the start of its program for Modern Family Leave. Employees will now get 26 weeks of paid leave for both mothers and fathers. Dominican labor law grants 14 weeks to mothers and only two days to fathers. The policy extends to legal guardianships and adoptions.

Avelina Henríquez, director of Human Resources at Casa Brugal, said the employees will receive their full salary, bonus, royalties, health insurance, life insurance and social security, among other benefits in addition to those established by law.

“Our commitment to contribute more starts at home. This leave of absence will allow all the company’s mothers and fathers to be with their children for the first six and a half months of their lives.

At Casa Brugal there are about 50 births a year. At the moment, eight staff members are expecting a baby and 18 staff members have a pregnant partner. They will be the next to enjoy the Modern Family Leave.

Casa Brugal is a company founded in 1888 by Andrés Brugal Montaner. The company includes the brands that include Ron Brugal, The Macallan, The Glenrothes, Moët Chandon, Hennessy, Absolut Vodka, Valduero, Emilio Moro, Menage a Trois and Perrier.
