
The 911 National Emergency System reports that traffic accidents decreased by 64% from 19 March to 18 May 2020. Over the two months of the Covid-19 epidemic, with a curfew imposed during the evenings, 6,825 road accidents compares to 18,702 for the same period last year. These include collusions, run-ins and landslides.
Vicente Mota Medina, executive director of the 911 System, called on citizens to return to the roads with prudence and care at the wheel.
911 statistics show that during the lockdown period, the number of domestic violence cases were 12% less, or 1,353 cases. For the two-month period in 2020 there were 10,358 reports of domestic violence, compared to 11,711 the previous year.
