With around three weeks to go before the 5 July 2020 presidential and congressional election, the Central Electoral Board (JCE) announced it is naming Johnny Marcelo Báez as IT director. He replaces Miguel Angel García, who had been removed in April after the automated voting glitch that forced a rescheduling of the 16 February municipal election for 15 March. The government also confirmed the deputy directors Luis Feipe Leger Núñez and Orly Arturo Pereyra Vásquez.
