President-elect Luis Abinader tweeted that the State Sugar Council (CEA) will be merged with the Government Property Agency (Dirección General de Bienes Nacionales). The CEA was divested of its sugar mills as of 1997 and yet has continued to operate selling its now dwindling number of land extensions. In the tweet, Abinader stated: “There will not be a single meter sold in our government to individuals. The remaining land will be used for social projects, production and economic development initiatives.
