Tropical Storm Gonzalo did not turn north as has happened historically. Instead, it due west and that brought it to impact Trinidad & Tobago with heavy rainfall, gusty winds and lightning strikes on Saturday, 25 July 2020. Gonzalo will not be felt at all in the Dominican Republic. A further weakening of the storm is expected as Gonzalo moves over the eastern Caribbean Sea. The system is forecast to dissipate by Sunday night or Monday. The storm has already been downgraded to a depression.
