
President Luis Abinader named Rafael Ernesto Arias Ramirez as the new director of the National Transit and Ground Transport Agency (Intrant). He replaces engineer Claudia Franchesca de los Santos Tavarez, who had been its first director since 2017.
He is a graduate in accounting from the state university UASD and did postgraduate studies in corporate finances at the Santo Domingo Technological Institute (INTEC) in 2000. In his last position, Arias Ramirez was general manager of the National Confederation of Transport Organizations (Conatra), the current leading people transport company. The president of Conatra ran for senator for the Modern Revolutionary Party (PRM), winning the position for the province of Santiago Rodriguez.
