David Collado announced several key members of his new team at the Ministry of Tourism. The new minister of tourism announced that Kai Schoenhals will be the director of the Council for Tourism Development (Confotur). The department reviews tourism projects applying for incentives under Law 158-01.
Shaney Peña is named as the director of the Planning and Projects Department, replacing long-standing Maribel Villalona.
Collado named architect Amín Abel as the coordinator of the executing unit for the recently awarded Inter-American Development Bank’s (IDB) Integrated Colonial City Program. Architect Abel had been the Urban Planning Director at the National District Government (ADN).
Collado also named Sixto Brea Ricourt to direct the Infrastructure Execution Committee in Tourism Zones (Ceiztur). Brea Ricourt had been in charge of urban infrastructure for the ADN.
He received the Ministry of Tourism from long-standing minister, Francisco Javier García.
On day one he met with Inka Mattila, representative of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) in the Dominican Republic. Mattila said the UNDP would be providing support to the tenders and contracting carried out by the Ministry of Tourism.
Collado is a former capital city mayor and has participated in the development of the first IDB program for the improvements in the Colonial City. Previously he was the president of the Tourism Commission at the Chamber of Deputies.
