With few Dominicans traveling abroad these days, adventure fever has taken off and many are booking stays at small ecolodges all around the country. Domestic tourism is taking off and doing well.
Once hotels were authorized to open on 1 July 2020, many people gradually spread the word that the Dominican Republic is one heck of a beautiful country. One doesn’t have to travel abroad, this is the land that has it all! “Little by little Dominicans have started to do domestic tourism, traveling discreetly and with their families,” reports Listin Diario.
People need to get out to disconnect from urban living, the stress and the same world situation generated by the pandemic. Others want to be in contact with nature. Psychologists say this helps calm the anxiety generated by the pandemic.
