New Police director to be stern on curfew violators

President Abinader delivered 50 new motorcycles and 28 pick-up trucks to the National Police as part of his campaign promise to improve public safety. The bikes will also be used by patrols enforcing the curfew laws (7 pm on weekdays and 5 pm on Saturday and Sunday).

Receiving the new equipment, the new director of the National Police, Edward Sanchez told reporters that his men and women would be “drastic” in the curfew regulations’ enforcement. He said face masks are mandatory for Police patrols.

President Luis Abinader also announced Police Covid-19 patrols are getting a 15% pay incentive for actions to impose curfew compliance. Close to 20,000 police are assigned to these tasks.
