Santiago tourism puts forth its proposals

The president of the Santiago Tourism Cluster, Ramon Paulino has laid out the need to design new policies and strategies to diversify the tourist offerings of the Santiago area, which includes rich natural and historical places.

The Santiago Cluster has been working under an agreement with the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) and has identified 39 natural tourist attractions, including vistas, national parks, reservoirs, rivers, waterfalls, caves, caverns and wetlands, all this and more within the province of Santiago.

According to the Cluster there are 551 places that provide food and boarding, and another 121 member businesses provide recreation and shopping. Continuing with the list of attractions, the Cluster also mentions Santiago has good access to public services, and higher education institutions.

The Santiago Cluster gathers 81 entities. Paulino observed it is not enough for tourism authorities to promote that “the Dominican Republic has everything.” He said that the country needs to diversify its offer to tourists continually.
