Haiti names an ambassador to the Dominican Republic

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Haiti has appointed jurist and sociologist Smith Augustin as ambassador to the Dominican Republic. As reported in Ici Haiti, the designated ambassador met with Haitian President Jovenel Moise to discuss government priorities in the Dominican Republic. Present was Minister of Foreign Affairs Claude Joseph.

Augustin is a graduate in Philosophy and Social Sciences from the Centro Bono (under Jesuit priests) in Santo Domingo and the Santo Domingo Institute of Technology (INTEC). He has a degree from the Rene Cassin International Institute of Human Rights in Strasbourg and a masters in international law from the University of Nantes in France.

President Jovenel Moise came for the inaugural of President Luis Abinader on 16 August 2020.

At the same time, Haiti’s government named Sam Beausoleil the new Haiti ambassador to the Caribbean Community (Caricom). Since 2012, Beausoleil has been responsible for the Caricom, Cuba and Dominican Republic affairs at the Ministry.

Antonio Rodrique is named ambassador of Haiti to the United Nations. He is a former minister of foreign affairs in Haiti.
