Less press conferences, more prosecution

Investigative journalist Altagracia Salazar calls for less press conferences on alleged corruption in government and more prosecution. In her morning talk show, Altagracia Salazar Sin Maquillaje, the veteran journalist asks government officers to get to work and prosecute the acts.

Yesterday, the new director of the Social Policies Gabinet of the government, Tony Peña Guaba denounced more than 100,000 persons are affiliated to government Covid-19 relief programs without meeting the criteria. Peña Guaba says RD$1.87 billion has been deposited to persons not identified as poor by the government. He said his department will purge the “Stay Home” (Quedate en Casa) lists of those persons to remove those persons.

Roberto Rodriguez Marchena, the former voice for the Medina administration, said that the program started for the poor but was extended. Informal workers, those employed in beauty salons, motorcycle taxi drivers, street vendors, and craftspeople were included.
