This is September, the peak time for tropical storms in the Caribbean region. Weather authorities are monitoring Tropical Storms Paulette and Rene as they move west on a path that will take them to cross the Caribbean. The storms are on their way from Africa. It is still too early to tell if they will affect the Dominican Republic. This is a record year for early named systems.
Meanwhile, the National Meteorological Office (Onamet) says the country is under the effects of a tropical wave and trough that are bringing rainstorms nationwide.
Those living in the Dominican Republic should have completed preparations for a tropical storm. The storms are unpredictable and need to be constantly monitored. Weather guru MikeFisher is providing updates for the DR1 Weather Forum.
