The Center for Export and Investment (CEI-RD) and the Ministry of Tourism (Mitur) signed an agreement on Wednesday, 9 September 2020 to join efforts to promote the Dominican Republic’s country brand. The CEI-RD & Mitur agreement is in preparation for the upcoming launching of the country brand strategy.
Tourism Minister David Collado and CEI-RD director Biviana Riveiro Disla signed the agreement. Ligia Bonetti and Rafael Blanco Canto signed for the private sector.
The inter-institutional agreement seeks to lay the groundwork for a rapid implementation of the country brand strategy. The efforts will be backed by the Ministry of Tourism promotion offices in 25 countries abroad. Mitur also commits to make a contribution of US$2 million for promotional activities through a trust. The same amount is to be raised by the private sector through a public-private partnership under the new Public-Private Partnership Law 47-20.
David Collado says Mitur will spare no effort to position the country brand strategy at the international level.
“Seeing how much progress has been made in the concept of the country brand, which is fundamental for us, to strengthen tourism, promote our local industries, spread our culture, bet on investment and provide the best of what we have: the spirit of our people, you can count on our full support,” said Collado.
For her part, the director of CEI-RD, Biviana Riveiro Disla, spoke of how the country brand is a state policy that aims to promote tourism, culture and exports, and provide the right climate to attract foreign investment.
“This strategy seeks to project a better overall image of the country, showing the full potential of the Dominican Republic in various areas,” she said.
