Converse has launched a designer shoe to honor the Mirabal Sisters who were the turning point for the end of the Trujillo dictatorship in the Dominican Republic.
The unisex shoes sell for US$70. The shoe is high-top canvas with all-over jacquard butterfly print. The company reports that an all-over butterfly print on the Chuck Taylor All Star high top honors the brave sisters who legendarily opposed dictatorship.
The “All Star” license plate pulls in the blue and red colors of the Dominican flag.
The customizable inner tongue label reads: “For my beautiful people from…” in Spanish.
