
The administrator of the Punta Catalina Thermoelectric Plant (CTPC), Serafin Canario de la Rosa, explained that Unit 1 of the twin-plant power central, was out of service from 21 September to 3 October. It is now again adding 375MW to the national electricity grid. The power plant was off service for maintenance works.
Canario de la Rosa said that Unit 2 is also producing 350 megawatts.
Meanwhile, Energy & Mines Minister Antonio Almonte has said that the government is reviewing the contract signed with Odebrecht for the installation of the power plant. Almonte says the past administration received the power plant with many unresolved technical problems.
