European Union donates EUR10.5 million to Dominican government

The Abinader administration got a windfall of RD$725.7 million in emergency funds from the European Union. The funds are to support the 2021 National Budget. The European Union mission ambassador Gianluca Grippa delivered the funds today to Economy Minister Miguel Ceara Hatto, Hacienda Minister Jose Manuel Vicente, and Public Administration Minister Dario Castillo. Also present was the director of the Public Procurement Agency, Carlos Pimentel.

The EUR10.5 million is to bolster three budget support programs currently being implemented by the European Union in the Dominican Republic.

“This special disbursement will allow the continuity of the reform of the public administration in areas such as public finance, bidding and procurement, planning, public investment and budget and human resources,” said Grippa. He said the funds will help to improve the quality of public services to citizens.

The programs are:
Program to Support the Reform of Public Administration and Quality of Public Services (PARAP II)
Program to Support Technical/Professional Education and Training (PRO-ETP II)
Program to Support the Reform of Public and Financial Administration of the Dominican Republic and the Mobilization of National Resources (PROGEF).
